U25s to race Tour de Nez starting Thursday

Our U25s will begin racing the TOUR DE NEZ tomorrow, Thursday, June 17, 2010. Tour de Nez is a 3-day stage race with a TT and circuit races.

The Tour de Nez began in 1986 as the 1st anniversary of Reno’s first coffee house, Deux Gros Nez. But it wasn't until the 7th anniversary in 1992, that bicycle races were part of the festival's entertainment. Organizers included the mighty Tour de Nez criterium. Today, nearly two decades later, Tour de Nez is one of the more significant pro stage races in the country. It takes place in Nevada and California, the cities of Reno and Truckee, along the shores of Lake Tahoe, and up to the mountains surrounding the resort at Northstar at Tahoe.

NOW-MS Society will be represented by Jenna Kowalski, Julia Lafranchise, Ivie Crawford and for the men: Corey Farrell, Cory Greenbery, Danny Heeley, Sergio Hernandez, Kit Karzen, Aaron Schneider.

Thursday, June 17
Prologue Time Trial in Sparks, NV (1.5 miles turny course through Victorian Square)
5:00pm Pro Women followed by Pro Men Cat 1, 2

Friday, June 18
Downtown Reno Circuit Race (a flat 1.5 mile loop through downtown Reno)
5:30pm Pro Women (50 minutes)
7:30pm Pro Cat 1, 2 Men (50 minutes)

Saturday, June 19
Northstar Village Circuit Race (The race course is a hilly, difficult two mile loop.) / Tour de Nez Omnium
3:45pm Pro Women Circuit (1 hour)
5:00pm Pro Cat 1, 2 Men (1.5 hours)
