Hinton family race report
My daughter Zoe who up until today held on to 6th place Y10 girls, but she took a very nasty spill down a very steep dirt hill and face planted her way to the bottom. Her first DNF.To her credit the first thing she said was "Daddy I was in first place".She wants to race next weekend
My son Dallas came in 4th place today in the jr 10-14 boys race. His second try racing with the older kids.I had to tell him the race was over when he crossed the finish line or he would have kept going.
My wife Catherine had a mechanical and need to switch bikes on the last lap (we keep each others bike in the pits just in case) she still finished strong and smiling.
I decided to hold back a little at the sprint start so I can save a little in the tank for the last half.It put me in second place for the first two laps and I still felt strong.I thought I might have a chance at taking this one but it only takes a little bobble and in a blink two go past me.Still feeling good I stayed on it and had fourth place on lock until I dropped a chain with 1/4 a lap left,I new i had a guy on a mnt bike about 50 yards back so I took one leg out a put the chain on and right when I stood on it ,he passed me.I tried very ,very hard to get him,but I ended in 5th place. My best finish ever and my first podium.
