Pro Men Road Race today, a break early in the race of 11 riders then down to 8. Thomas Hubbard and Sergio Hernandez were in the main field of 40 or 50 riders which then went down to about 25 or 30. Sergio went off the front of that main field first, followed by Thomas. Chasing the break, they came within approx a minute. Thomas performed extremely well today, even with his bruises from a nasty crash in the crit yesterday. The rest of the men were hanging tough, riding well with the pack.
Pro Women Stage 3 Results: Kendall Ryan 48th, Jennifer Johansen 76th, Tammy Wildgoose 77th, Jenna Kowalski 82nd.
Pro Women Final GC: Kendall 65th, Jen Jo 77th, Tammy 81st, Jenna 84th.
In their first time at Redlands Stage Race, the Pro Women rose to the challenge in a field of high caliber riders incl. Peanut Butter & Co Twenty12, HTC Columbia, TBCO. Like the men, they took advantage of a great opportunity to learn about racing in general and their own racing throughout the weekend at Redlands. It was a battle mentally and physically. Kendall Ryan was very impressive this weekend, not missing a beat in a field of top racers. All the women performed to the best of their abilities and represented our team well. Lauren Liscinski and Julia Lafranchise also raced in the Men Masters 35 today.
Per Team Director Kurt Stockton, all performed very well at Redlands, better with each day. The men, he said, made phenomenal improvements over last year. They suffered and they made it through. Their season has gotten progressively tougher and the riders have stepped up. Kurt received many compliments throughout the weekend on how well the team rode and that they did what they needed to do. Nice job representing NOW-MS Society.
Redlands Criterium Men Cat 3:
Adam Masters raced the crit very aggressively. He initiated a break, got caught and then initiated a second break. He came in 2nd by less than half a wheel. Adam was definitely the most aggressive rider in the Cat 3 race. He did not hold back. FYI, Adam also provided a huge amount of support for the rest of the team this weekend.
Thank you also to Emily Baker, the team's soigner and to Pat and Anne Marie Meyer who hosted the men, women and support staff-- all 17 people-- in their beautiful home. And thank you to Team Director Kurt Stockton.
Back home at the LA Circuit Race:
Men Cat 3 - Lawrence Novitch placed 16th and Barry Fink also raced, working hard for the team.
Men Cat 4 - Nick Hare got in a 2 man breakaway, with Jens Wallrabe at the front of the field blocking but the break did not hold, Nick placed 26th, John Velez and Jens both did a great job controlling the peloton. Nate Whitman came in 10th.
Men Cat 5 - Kevin Hinton 14th
